Cup Finals Day

We are pleased to be hosting not one, but two (count them, two!) Oxfordshire Senior League Cup Finals on Saturday 11th May at the Neil Roberts Arena. This will be the second year that we have had this honour and if this day is anything like last year, we are in for a cracking day of football and fun.

The first match will be the Ben Turner Cup Final where League Champions Freeland will play Horspath. This will be followed by the Ivor Gubbins Cup Final where Kennington Athletic Reserves will play Launton Sports Reserves.

This is a great oportunity to see what local Oxfordshire football is all about as well as for any ground hoppers out there to get two matches in (even if you’ve already been to Woodstock Town before, 2 for the price of 1 can’t be sniffed at!)

The pitch is in IMMACULATE condition and fit to host any cup final occasion. We would go as far to say that there isn’t a better grass playing surface at this stage of the season in the whole of Oxfordshire at Southern League or below (quite a claim!). If you can’t play football on that, you really shouldn’t be playing football. Mick and Dave have worked wonders this season.

In order for the day to go without a hitch, here are a few things that everyone will need to know.......

Kick Off Times

The Ben Turner Cup will kick off at 1pm (Freeland v Horspath). Should the match be a draw after 90 minutes, there will be extra time and penalties. The presentation of the cup will follow the conclusion of the match.

The Ivor Gubbins Cup will kick off at 5pm (Kennington v Launton). Should the match be a draw after 90 minutes, there will be extra time and penalties. The presentation of the cup will follow the conclusion of the match.

Players and Officials will be able to enter the ground via the New Road entrance and use the main club car park. All other spectators are asked to enter via the Recreation Road Entrance where ample parking is available. There will be signs and Stewards directing people on the day

The Oxfordshire Senior League charge admission to their cup finals which will be £3, a small price to pay for two matches and to help the league run. We don’t get any of that money and the club makes its money from food and the bar, which brings us onto........

Food and Drink

We have a full bar available serving alcoholic and soft drinks. We accept card payments over the bar so don’t worry if you don’t have cash (sadly, we are unable to offer a cash back service).

No glasses or bottles can be taken out of the club house (for obvious reasons) but we have plastic glasses available.

All alcohol must be purchased from the club (due to our licensing) and anyone found to be drinking alcohol brought in from outside will he asked to leave the ground (participating clubs are of course welcome to bring a bottle or two of champagne for celebrating!)

We will have the BBQ on go serving burgers and hotdogs as well as our usual chips and filled rolls. Please purchase all food at the bar where you will be given a ticket to collect your grub from the BBQ outside.

We look forward to seeing everyone down at New Road for what we hope will be a fantastic showcase for local non league football.
