Midweek Preview

Wednesday sees the Townhouse Travel sponsored 1st Team having another crack of getting the cup game on against Highworth away.

The game was cancelled last week due to a waterlogged pitch but Town are hopeful of ticking this game off the list to ease what is already becoming a fixture backlog.

Last time out, Town overcame Moreton Rangers with at least 6 of their first team in the squad and on a pitch that resembled the Somme. Nathan Emmett scored all three to become the youngest scorer of a first team hat trick since the merger with Old Woodstock.

Our hosts are in fine form although they lost their 100% league record at the weekend with a 2-2 draw against Farringdon. The Highworth danger man will be Jamie Sheppard with 12 goals in as many games as he has helped lift his team to second in Division 2 West, albeit with games in hand over Letcombe.

Town can if they choose, have a largely unchanged side from the squad who faced Moreton at the weekend. Collier is in contention for a return following his injury lay off and Molloy came through his injury return for the Development side unscathed. One or two of the other Development players will be hopeful of a call up to the senior squad.  The management might choose to use the opportunity of a cup game as a chance to try new things and  so don’t be surprised if the final squad that travels looks somewhat unfamiliar.

Kick off is at 1945. Come along and join us as we attempt to reach the quarter final of the Chairman’s Challenge Cup.
