Weekend Preview

Both teams are in action this weekend looking to consolidate their respective positions in the league against two very tough opponents The Townhouse Travel sponsored 1st Team are on the road as they travel to promotion rivals Adderbury Park. Woodstock are the only team who have stopped the early pace setters scoring so far this season with a 0-0 draw at New Road back in December. Up until that point, Adderbury were undefeated and in pole position to take the title. They’ve stalled a little in the past few weeks, not helped by the infrequency of their matches due to the perils of the weather. Adderbury were possibly the toughest opponents we have faced so far this season at New Road and will be an even harder proposition at their own ground. Woodstock will need to be prepared to scrap and fight for every ball against a physically powerful, fast and direct Adderbury team. The reds are boosted by the signing of Will McEachran from Premier Division Ardley United. He comes straight into the squad alongside other attacking options Jamie Fisher and top scorer Nathan Emmett who both return after missing last weeks game. Dan Collier is now fully fit after coming through the test last week against Heyford. Rob Greenslade stays with the 1st Team after a solid performance last time out. Kick off at The Lucy Plackett Playing Fields is 3pm tomorrow. Wrap up warm and bring an umbrella as there’s no cover but the bar will be open! Meanwhile, the Feathers Hotel sponsored Development Team are at home to league leaders Middleton Cheney. Tomorrow’s visitors ran out convincing winners when the teams last met but Town will be hoping to cause an upset by bagging all three points. New signing Kieran Strange will feature in a strong squad which will also include Tom Molloy in goal as well as Max Dunmall and the returning Steve Jarrett who will be looking for some match fitness following his long term injury absence sustained whilst on first team duty. Shaun Pike also makes a return after playing up for the first team last week. As always, the bar will be open serving a wide selection of booze (please drink responsibly) There will also be tea and coffee available as well as a wide selection of hot food including steak bakes, chicken and ham bakes, Cornish pasties, sausage rolls, chips and our new Woodstock burgers (with or without bacon) Kick off is 2.30pm at the home of football, the Neil Roberts Arena (aka New Road)
