End of Season Awards
It was an eventful day at New Road for the first annual Woodstock Town cricket tournament followed by the football presentation evening
They played through the rain and it was Pikeys Select XI, captained by Development Team keeper Jamie Davies who lifted the Colonels Trophy with Liam Walker picking up the self appointed player of the tournament award due to taking some key wickets and some very economical bowling.
The cricket was followed by the main event where a reduced selection of trophies were on offer for the football club annual awards.
Jacob Haynes picked up the development team players player award having played in every position during the season (including a stint in goal) and providing back up for the first team in defence.
Ed Keppie picked up the Development Team player of the year for a run of consistent performances in the heart of midfield.
The first team players player went to Tom Butler who after coming in as cover three games in to the season, made the number 5 shirt his own and was a key player in last seasons success, leading the back line and making some important tackles and clearances.
Finally, the Edward Saxton trophy for player of the season went to 18 year old Nathan Emmett who was last seasons top scorer and a player who developed hugely last season to become one of the most feared forwards in the division, playing with a style that belies his young years. Unfortunately he was away on holiday and wasn’t available to pick up his gong.
A good time was had by all and some much needed money made for the club coffers
Uo the Town!!!
