Evesham Run Riot to Dump Woodstock Out the Cup
Town bow out of the Bluefin Challenge Cup after losing 6-1 at Evesham Development on Monday night. We say Evesham Development as they were Development in name only minutes with the majority of their starting line up being members of Eveshams Southern League first team, three divisions higher that Town. This included a 30 year old England Deaf International!
Despite the difference in levels and the eventual score line, it was a pretty even game. A combination of individual errors compounded by top rate finishing by the home side would prove the decisive factor as Evesham bagged 3 goals in each half with Ondrej Prielozny grabbing the Town goal late in the first half when he intercepted a loose pass to slot home his second goal in 2 games. Woodstock also had a goal ruled out (incorrectly as the highlights show) for offside that would have made it more of a spectacle along with an absolute stonewall penalty that was not given much to the amusement of the Evesham players!
not a great day at the office but there were still positives to take from the game, especially the performance of the young Slovak Prielozny who put in a man of the match effort.
