It’s the magic of the cup for the 1st Team (the Oxfordshire FA Intermediate Cup to be precise) as they travel to Kirtlington for the chance to progress to the next round and be a step closer to playing Kidlington Development in the final!
Kirtlington are leading the way in the Senior League Division 1 having made the step up this season and will be looking to add a higher league scalp to their list of wins so far this season. Kirtlington is a hard place to go with a very big and open pitch which they will look to use to their advantage with a fast flowing and attacking style of football similar to Woodstock’s own style of play. Coming off the back of a win against Chalgrove, they will be confident of getting a result against a Woodstock side with some key players still missing.
Will Spackman is still sidelined with a broken wrist and Steve Jarrett has yet to fully recover from his awful head injury sustained against Banbury.
Kev Pike comes back into the squad following his stomach bug and James Ward is also available. Pike and Walker will have a selection headache this week with both Tom Molloy and Sam Jeffrey available having recovered from his hand injury.
Town will need to be on their guard if they are to get a result and avoid a banana skin against a very able and competitive side. To quote the old cliches, the Cup is a great leveller etc.....
Kick off is at 1.30pm
Meanwhile the Development Team take on high flying Eynsham in Division 1 of the Senior League at New Road (kick off 2.30pm)
With the entire management team away and several players missing, it will be a tough ask against the team that comprehensively defeated them just 3 short weeks ago
Haynes, Greenslade, Butler and Welford are all unavailable. Veteran Nick Smith comes in to the squad to add some experience to a very young squad alongside Max Roberts. Hotshot new signing Luke Samuel is also in contention for a place in the squad.
