Mixed fortunes on Non League Day for Woodstock.
A hard fought 2-1 cup win for the 1st Team today against a spirited Kirtlington side with both goals coming from Jamie Fisher. A few injuries picked up in the game also including to Tom Molloy meaning that 17 year old striker Nathan Emmett spent an over an hour in goal. A good match for the neutral but unfortunately we will not be writing a match report for this game. That’s 6 wins in a row in league and cup for the 1st Team and they’ll be looking to carry that form into next weekends game against Milton United in the Chairman’s Challenge Cup.
The Development Team lost 3-2 at home to Eynsham. Goals from Max Roberts with a superb free kick and a Tom Beckett strike were cancelled out by the visitors who bagged the winner from the spot following a very contentious penalty decision when Brennan was adjudged to have fouled when seemingly winning the ball cleanly. The Reds had chance to level the scores in injury time with a penalty of their own but Saunders’ spot kick was well saved by the Eynsham keeper. Next up for the Development Team is the small matter of a local derby away to arch rivals Kidlington A
