Woodstock survived an early scare when they went 1-0 down to win 6-2 against Old Bradwell United today and maintain their 100% league record.
Despite dominating the game from start to finish, Woodstock unexpectedly found themselves behind midway through the first half when hesitation from Jamie Davies allowed the Old Bradwell striker to poke past him. Nathan Emmett equalised 5 before the break to go in at half time at 1-1 when in truth it could’ve and should’ve been 5-1.
The Reds reacted positively to the half time words of wisdom with Nathan Emmett grabbing a second after being set free by Jamie Fisher.
Fisher got a goal to reward his efforts when Nathan Emmett’s shot was spilled by the hapless Old Bradwell keeper to fire home into the roof of the net.
Three became four a few minutes later when Kev Pike converted a cross from close range. Woodstock were looking rampant and dominant in possession and on the attack.
Woodstock’s 5th goal came from a solo run by Charlie Collins who ran through on goal after leaving the defence flat footed to lift the ball over the diving keeper.
A momentary lapse in concentration from Spackman allowed the visitors to get a late equaliser, but Woodstock were to have the last laugh when a fine run down the left from Spaniard William saw him curl the ball into the far top corner of the goal to make the final score 6-2 to the Reds.
Momentarily top of the league (for a couple of hours until Adderburys 4-2 victory is confirmed) but we’ll take it!!!! Still have that game in hand as well as the perfect record in tact.
